so you buy a new hard drive and re-install Windows or buy a drive from Dell with Windows installed.

Hi Helpme,
There may be a hard drive problem or a connectivity issue. If the PC is under warranty, contact the seller and ask for guidance. If warranty has expired, open the laptop and check the connections. If you have the option, try to connect the drive to a desktop PC as a secondary storage drive. If the drive is still not recognized, you may need to replace it.
