It appears that your screen or video cable is defective. Can you test using an external monitor?

Hello billkaratzas,
The one beep error that you hear when you boot up the laptop means that there is a BIOS failure. You could repair that either by replacing that CMOS battery, if you have a second one, or you need to replace the whole mother board of the laptop. Please, beware that opening the laptop lid will void the warranty if the lappy still has it. Make sure you have unplugged the power cord and the battery before proceeding with the CMOS replacement. Take it for a couple of mins and then plug it back in, adn try to start.
Hope this helps.
