Typically XP has an inferior driver base, so you have to download the drivers off the web to correct missing devices. Just head to your native HP site and look on support for your model.

First download and run the Microsoft UAA package ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33867.exe
Then the XP driver for ur Conexant Audio device ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36001-36500/sp36090.exe
