Hello,
I bought new hp compaq presario(first hand). at first I used vista. it went so well. then i decide to downgrade my vista to xp. because vista is very sensitive.
after i installed windows xp, my speake icon gone as well as my audio device. please help me!!

Typically XP has an inferior driver base, so you have to download the drivers off the web to correct missing devices. Just head to your native HP site and look on support for your model.

First download and run the Microsoft UAA package ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33867.exe

Then the XP driver for ur Conexant Audio device ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36001-36500/sp36090.exe

hi buddy
i downloaded the drivers from the link.
i installed the first one .
but when i installed the second driver an error msg appeared.
"The media file not found"

i have a compaq presario C97VU laptop.
