You may be facing a dead battery issue. It depends on the PC model, but sometimes when the battery is connected and the power cable is connected, battery is charging but the PC does not get energy from the power adapter. It relies on the battery. If you remove the battery, the PC switches to the power cable. You should test the laptop with another battery and with another power cable in order to confirm where the issue comes from. Unfortunately, if the issue persists, even with other components, there may be a motherboard issue. In that case, you should consult with a technician.
