If Gmail has not deleted the messages from the server, you can recover deleted emails after deleting them from your trash folder. You must open your Gmail then click the drop down grey arrow on the left from your search box at the top of the screen. It will then ask you several question such as to: or from, subject, key words or date within. Click on the blue search button on the bottom left of the search box and all of your deleted emails should be revealed.
If you still can’t recover you mails, these links will provide further help

thank you so much for your reply. This seems to work perfectly if it is just deleted but it doesnt bring up the permanently deleted ones. Sounds like you cannot get these back :(

Hi Bernie,

It sometimes worked for messages which were permanently deleted a year ago but as I mentioned at the beginning of my reply: If Gmail has not deleted the messages from the server

Many times Gmail makes a general sweep to delete deleted messages.

Gmail and other online email services are not a safe place to store data.

I don't think Gmail should take it upon themselves to sweep away any gmail unless it's advertising.

i "permanently deleted" just 5 days ago. using your instructions above only got me those that were just "deleted" (not permanently). Is there another way? Please.
