There is a possibility to recover permanently deleted email through google support team because Gmail was launched by google. It is not possible to do so from within Gmail or Google.
1. Anyhow, if the email was downloaded through IMAP into Mozilla Thunder-bird, Microsoft Outlook or any such software, and has not been synced after the deletion, they can be restored.
Messages are stored in a text file called a box file that has the folders name and no file extension. For example, the messages for an inbox folder are in "inbox." (not inbox.msf or inbox.sbd). If you're lucky, you didn't change the default settings for tools -> account settings -> synchronization & storage and you have an offline folder (mbox file) that is a copy of the remote inbox folder that still exists even though you lost the normal inbox folder. Offline folders are accessible if you switch to working offline using file -> offline -> work offline. I suggest you copy its contents to a folder in local folders.
