Hi Vasudevan,
I would recommend you to remove the write protection and then to format the drive. To remove the protection, run the Command Prompt as an Administrator and type the following command:
Diskpart
List Disk
Select disk n (n must be the number of the drive)
Attributes disk clear readonly
Exit
Once all is done, open Disk Management and locate the pen drive. Right click on it and select Format. Since the write protection is lifted, you should be able to format the drive.
