aliceadsl smtp and outlook 2007 errorClosed

Question

Hello,

When I try to set up outlook 2007 to go directly to smtp.aliceadsl.fr to send mail I get an error. I never had this problem until i moved to vista and office 2007.

Any ideas? At the moment I go through gmail but I'd rather not.

Hi - thanks for posting a response so fast!

Here's the error message, it's just a regular message that you would get if the smtp wasn't set up right, but as far as I am aware it is. I had this problem months ago and couldn't be bothered to sort it. A quick fix was to go through gmail pop3.


Send test e-mail message: Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

Right, that's the reason I almost stopped using Outlook, it didn't seem to know how to send email. But actually there's a good SMTP service http://www.smtp.com/services.html that fixes those problems, and all you need to do is enter one setting in Outlook and it sends like a charm.
