Windows media can no longer play my films

I received updates last week and after that I can no longer play my films on window media. I did uninstall this update a couple of times but it reinstalled itself the next time I restarted my laptop. Can you please help me?

What kind of format are the films in? Have you already tried uninstalling then reinstalling the entire Win Media Player software, not just the update?
