PROBLEM WITH MASTER/SLAVE DESIGNATION
Closed
Hello,
i HAVE A HP PAVILLION dv8210us 80GB HD AND IT HAS ANOTHER SLOT FOR A EIDE HD
I BOUGHT A 250GB WD (WESTERN DIGITAL) AND INSTALLED
I GO TO BIOS,AND THEN TO BOOT ORDER ,AND ONLY THE WD SHOWS UP
IF I TAKE THE WD HD BACK OUT AND DO SAME, THE BOOT ORDER SHOWS THE TOSHIBA(ORIGINAL HD)
HOW DO I DESIGNATE THE MASTER/SLAVE DRIVES IF THE 80GB DOESN'T SHOW UP IN MY BIOS
THNKS

hi,
there is a jumper on the hard disk, near the IDE connector.
you need to switch the jumper to the slave mode.
see the top of the hard disk for configurations.

Theres always master/slave/cable select jumpers on the actual drives next to the connectors that need setting up on all IDE drives.
Thanks to all
After wasting much time trying to discuss this matter with the manufacturer of both the new HD and the Laptop,
I decided to try switching the HDs around.
Booted it up and now I'm back in business.
I can't believe that's all it took.
Now I have 250 additional GB for a little less than a 100 bones.
Not to bad
CHEERS !!!
