Configuring Opera Mini on Nokia phones

January 2017

Thanks to the innovation of telephony you can have the Opera mini web browser on your smartphone. Nokia phones can be configured manually by creating a free prov setting. You must have a Nokia (S60) Series phone. For configuring Opera mini, you must enable phone line GPRS, unless you have a wi-fi connection to access the internet. You must have Internet access in your phone service agreement and should check with the mobile provider if it is included in your services. There are two ways to install Opera Mini to the phone. Go to the Opera mini website by using the phone's default web browser and select Download Opera Mini or download it on the PC, transfer and install it onto the Nokia phone. While installing, you must select the Nokia phone from the list of supported devices.

Issue

I have installed Opera Mini on my Nokia handset and activated my GPRS settings, but I'm unable to browse under Opera Mini

Solution

Opera Mini needs to be configured manually as it is a third party application. Here is how you can do this:

You will have to set permissions so that Opera Mini can get connected through the GPRS settings
  • Select Opera Mini
  • Click "Options"
  • Select "App. access"
  • Select "Data access"
  • Edit "Read user data" and "Add and edit data" which are used by Opera Mini
