My setup is: two APs with the same SSIDs and passwords. One in the living room and the other in the bedroom. Every AP is connected via CAT6 ethernet cables to a single gigabit 8-port switch. The switch is connected to a 1gigabit modem (hope I didn't get the terms wrong).
Using ethernet I get good speeds in every room. The problem is with the wifi: if a client connects to one of the APs, he'll stay on that AP although the signal in the other side of the house gets much worse. The client won't choose the best/closest AP no matter what.
I want to improve the wifi speeds.If both APs will have the same MAC will the client automatically "bounce" to the closest/fastest AP?
Will a mesh system with several units be able to do this?
