Unable to use flash player in vista after dow

Hello,
I did a system recovery on my computer which brought it back to initial out of the box status. I have reinstalled flash player active x control and still cannot view items requiring them. HELP I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, shutting computer down, etc.
