MSN Messenger - Icons keep spinning forever

I have had this problem for SEVEN MONTHS!!
When i log onto msn the stupid little icons just keep spinning
and spinning
and spinning
and spinning
and spinning

NEVER LOGGING ME IN! I always just cancel the stupid log in before a pop up comes up saying 'Windows Live had encountered a problem and needs to close' - this message alone always ends up making my computer freeze and shit itself before returning to normal.
I can log onto my home computer but not on my laptop, I have uninstalled and installed MSN countless times with no results. I was hoping with the release of 9.0 version I would be able to just install that and all would be fine again. But no, that didn't work either.
Windows Live website hasn't helped
Google hasn't helped
This site hasn't helped (so far)
SO FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CAN SOMEONE JUST HELP ME!??!

It is probably one of the most frustrating thing ever because 7 months on and I STILL HAVE NO RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM!!!
