No SOUND AT ALL

I have a Compaq laptop windows7 wiv basic installed. I do not know what happpend but i cannot hear any sound wen i play anything.even wen i start my computer, the sound tht comes from windows wen it get started, i dont even get that then i try to play music or anything, it didnt sound. So kindly help me out. I kno this problems is kinda like not believin. I m also shocked but plz plz help me!!!even wen i put my arrow to my volume its saying no speakers are headphone are plugged in,an i have a red cross on my volume and cant get it off iv tryed everthingthank you

Right Click MY COMPUTER
Click Properties>Click Hardware Tab>Click Device Manager
Now see if you have and YELLOW MARK(s) in Audio Device
if yes then you need to install AUDIO DRIVER
Check Your system and find its Compatible Audio Driver
if you dont have Motherboard Disk then download audio driver and install it then restart and your sound will work
