Have no sound

Hello,
i replaced my hd because oldone broke. i had sound, now i have no sound. downloaded everest and found a device, downloaded the driver but i still have the same error message, "can't find sound device". mother board fw80821db, win xp. please help or i'll shoot my pc. thanks
