Black screen

Hello, When I turn my labtop on the power light lights up but the screen wont come on and it sounds like its running something but then it cuts off and then repeats and the screen stays black. Can anyone help me?

Connect the laptop to a monitor and the go to your laptop bios change the setting to default setting and save it the take off the monitor have a look? Take out the battery then turn on pc
