Sony Vaio Laptop Will Not Turn On

I started a defrag on my computer as it seemed to be running slow. When I got back the screen was black and it would not turn on. I have unplugged it, taken out the battery, turned it upside down and held the power button but nothing. The green power light is on but there are no sounds or anything. help please (xp)
