Double problem - password and driveClosed

Question

Hello, I have a compaq laptop. The cat knocked it off of the table. Now when I attempt to log on, It will not recognize my password - I know it is the correct password, it is the only one I ever use! I tried to F8 and open in safe mode and I get a note stating that there there is no "drive" and I need a floppy disc or memory stick "media disc" to run. I did not get a disc with my computer. HELP!!! it is only a few months old.
