Sims 3 Crashing

Everytime I play I only get about ten minutes before my game crashes. The game starts fine with no problem but I can't seem to stay on the game for more than ten minutes before the screen goes black and I get kicked out of the game. The game crashes in create a sim and also normal gameplay. I'm technologically challenged, please help! I have Windows Vista.
