My display is black and nothing else

Hello, when i opened my laptop this morning the display is just dark with a faint brightness. the windows logo sounds comes, and the later if i press alt+f4 and enter the windows shuts down. the laptop was working good last night and it didnt fall down or hit anywhere. i dont know what the problem might be. please tell me how to fix this display problem. (im using dell inspiron 15r 3521, win 8.1 32-bit, 2gb ram 500gb hdd, intel hd graphics installed)
