Make bootable pendrive for vista

Hello,
i've a 4gb transend pendrive, and i want to install vista through my pendrive. i got lots of information from the website but still i'm confused what exactly should be done.and another problem i tried to burn disk with my dvd writer but my dvd writer is not reading nor detecting any blank dvd. Is there any problem with my hardware or with the dvd drive ? if so please help me.i'm using acer 4530.
