I am locked out my Yahoo account

when I try to sign in to my yahoo.com account it says this

We have detected some unusual activity on your account and as a result we've temporarily locked it for your protection. You may unlock your account immediately by changing your password.
Our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused, but your account safety and privacy is very important to us.

Unlock and change password (then I click this link it directs me to verizon page)

I contacted verizon and they tried everything and told me that it is not linked to a verizon account. I tried change the password by use my recovery questions but it take me right back to the verizon page. I put in my phone number that was associated to the account and it says Uh oh looks like something went wrong please try again later. I did and it still says the same thing. Can you help me, I have important legal documents in folders in my email
