All licences eventually expire and must be renewed on a yearly basis. The technician probably installed a trial version.
I suggest that you take this opportunity to shop around for a better software.
There are also a number of anti-virus software which are free.

I'm using ESET Smart Security https://www.criticthoughts.com/security/eset-review/ , since I like the idea of having an all-in-one security suite (including spam/virus/firewall).
But... as mentioned in the above review, ESET does have a major impact on system performance, which I can definitely confirm!
