You're asking about:
"...f you find any greyed entries > Right click on it > Select "Uninstall".
Restart your PC and connect your external drive and the drivers will be re-installed..."
From my experience, uninstalling drivers and letting Windows re-discover hard-ware, letting Windows re-find and re-install the needed drivers did not in any way alter, add to, subtract from, the data content of either internal or external media.
