Problem opening applications

Hello,
Every time I try running any application I get the message "Choose the program you want to open with". I have given the path to .exe file of the application sevral time but this continues to happen. Moreover i am unable to open any of the programs in Control Panel, which makes it impossible to install or uninstall any applciation. plz help me out.

hi,
this is caused by a virus.
install an antivirus and run it.
this will remove any threat present in the computer.
or try to a system restore.
