hi,
you need a special software to open the file.
normally you should be able to use these softwares to open the file:
>Nikon View
>Adobe Photoshop CS
>ACDSee Photo Manager
if you gat a CD when you bought the camera, put in the computer and install the softwareit contains, this will open the files.

Yes I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 installed in my computer and I can open the .nef (raw) files from my camera the only problem is that I can't opened the raw files that I copied from my friend's camera through his computer.
But my NIkon CD is not installed yet coz I just reformatted my computer maybe that's the reason? I will try to installed it.....thanks, I'll be back....
