I cannot get my laptop to boot up. After the dell logo comes up it goes blank with just the cursor running. Tried powering off and on and tried hitting F8...nothing. Please help

You need to run the Dell Hardware Diagnostics to determine if it's a hardware or software problem. This link should tell you how:
