Prob after download of ie8 on my xp laptop

Hello,
I downloaded the new ie8 and did everything as asked. when I rebooted ,I am now unable to open explorere .I have recovered from a previous point, I have uninstalled ie8 and restarted and re-installed. Do I need ot give up and recover my basic pc settings. I dont have a current copy of recovery cds. Am I screwed or what.

Hello, it may due to the fact that IE8 has not been properly uninstall , try it again using the following steps:

Go to the Control Panel
Select Add / Remove Programs
Check the box Show updates
Select Windows Internet Explorer 8
Click on Delete
Restart the PC
