HP Stream 11 and monitor not wrking

Pretty much when I go and turn on my hp stream 11 laptop it turns on except I have a smashed screen so I can only see a corner of the screen so it will turn on and I can press enter and type my password in and I can see in the corner it logs in but when I plug in my monitor the laptop stops working and the screen goes blank and the f6 or mute button lights up and the monitor says no signal please help
