TOUCHPAD mouse Not working,

Hello,
Wish I were so lucky to have had the easy response with the oblong bar below spacebar to make touchpad and mouse work. ALL was FINE till I set a piece of paper on keyboard for a minute a few days ago. NOTHING I have tried per online instructions has worked yet
