My laptop has lost all access to WiFi networks

My laptop is a four month old Acer running windows 10. Not sure of the specific model and I have no idea if that is even important. It completely lost all connection to the internet and will not even detect any wifi networks even though everything else in my house still can. The only way I can see that I can access the internet on my laptop is through an ethernet cable. I have tried turning the router off and back on and tried doing the same with the laptop to no avail. Can someone give me some suggestions on how I can fix this that wont break my budget?
