Yahoo email permissions

Yahoo email privacy question. Yahoo states my account settings are out of date. The only way to fix the problem is by accepting third party access to my calendar, profiles, and mail (read/write and full access). The descriptions of third party access are really broad. There is no option to decline, and if I don't accept everything, the out-of-date problem remains and I don't get new email o.
