Hello,

I am a linux n00b and I would highly appreciate a little help. i want to access my external drive using the command terminal. I go to the folder in which it is listed but I am unable to use cd command to open and explore it. It says no such file or directory but when I use the ls command i can see it is there. i am really confused.

Thanks

Can you be more precise in your question?

Hi

Please let us know if this is still a problem and if so let us know which version of linux (distro) you are using. You might find something more helpful in this link, particularly Peter's first link.

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/76608

Ubuntu might be quite a different version of linux from the one you are using but most gnu&linux's work very much the same on the command-line, even other *nixes are much the same although some may lack the "sudo" command
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RootSudo

It may possibly depend slightly on which distro you are using but this forum should be able to help
http://www.linuxquestions.org
as it deals with a huge range of different versions of linux but is dedicated to linux support.

It might be worth popping along to
https://distrowatch.com/
to see if you recognise which of those versions of linux you are using. If you see your version listed down on the right-hand side then click on it and navigate to the "User Forums" for your version of linux. They should be able to give much better help in there.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
