Hello,

After several weeks of private messaging with someone on Instagram, advertisements are beginning to show up in our conversation thread.

My question is:

Does Instagram place ads into people's direct messaging conversations, or are these ads being sent by the person I am talking with?

Hello, it sounds like these are Instagram Direct Ads. If you are direct messaging someone with a business account, it is likely that they have this type of Ad enabled. If it's just a personal account then it is probably just Instagram sending ads.
