Delete the file, then open it???

Hello,
Finding it difficult to go from step 5 to 6. If I'm supposed to delete the file that I've just created, how do I then click on it? Not making sense to me.
also, as an aside, Doc files aren't opening on the flash drive. All others are. How do I open them?
