Video Problems

No videos, DVD or otherwise will play on my PC at all. Not even movies from games. Also, I can't see pictures when I open them, but strangely, I can if I view them in a slideshow, which also lets me see video clips, but again, only in a slideshow. I haven't had this problem before, and have all up to date players/codecs etc.

Thought I'd add that they DO play sound, the bar moves etc. but no video. Same goes for games.
But I can both see and hear them in a slideshow like normal.
