Seen after a long time?

Someone was having a chat with me a couple months ago on whatsapp and he turned the read receipt off back then. Now, I've been checking our chat conversation again, and the ticks became blue, but the "read" date is a several days ago. Does this mean all the chat turned to blue ticks after someone is turned on their read receipt? Or it becomes blue after the person turned their read receipt on and open the chat conversation again?

Hi,

That person has checked the conversation again after they turned on their read receipt. If they didn't, your old messages will not appear as read.

Firstly, thank you for your reply. That’s what I thought too, but the read “date” is different from message to message. Is that some kind of bug or? Help me, I’m really confused haha

I think when they scroll through the conversation, the read receipt is sent after each message they see.
