Undetected Hard drive

My transcend external hard drive is not dectatable  even as the light is on. The drive was working perfectly until yesterday when it was not detected on the PC. 

Please how do I resolve this. I have plugged it in 3 different PCs but still not working.

Kindly help me. I have important documents on it

Hi,

Make sure the hard drive is connected and turned on.

Open Disk Management by pressing Windows + R and typing diskmgmt.msc. Right-click on the volume corresponding to your hard drive, then click Change Drive Letter and Paths. Select Add and assign a letter to your hard drive.

If the problem persists, search for Command Prompt and right-click on it to run it as administrator. Next, type the command chkdsk d: /f /r /x (replace d by the letter of your hard drive) and press Enter.
