Hello,
I am trying to install an external dvd drive but the Acer Aspire One notebook with Linpus Linux Lite operating system will not register the drive unless the driver disc is inthe drive. How do I install the drive on the notebook?

hi,

insert the driver disk to install driver, then you will be able to use it.

With the driver disc inserted the option to install is not available, all I can do is read the disc.

But if you really need the disc in the drive just insert it!

Hi :)

Please try a proper dedicated linux forum such as
http://www.linuxquestions.org

They will probably want you to type in

sudo fdisk -l

where "-l" is a lower-case "-L". The output from that and something like lsusb should help them see what's going on.
