Don't bother with the USB cord. Invest in a USB Card reader. It's a tiny gizmo into which you put the memory card from your phone. You then insert it in any USB port on your computer and you can copy the pix to the computer.
First make sure that all the pix you need to copy are on the memory card and not the phone's internal memory.
You can buy this little reader gadget at any Verizon store for about $12.
