My pc does not read my cd rom

Hello,
i have changed my dvd rom and when i fix it it did not read my rom . os is xp.its not giving any message .

hello there,

Does the drive appears in My Computer?

If not just right click on My Computer, Select Manage

Click on Disk Management, try to see if its detected there,

Then just change the drive path name
