Headphone with mic problem

I am using windows xp and i've realtek sound driver that i've got with my motherboard.My processor is pentium D.when i connect my headphone cum mic in front then i can hear sound but i cann't record my sound.It means output is working but input isn't.Please help me so that i can record my sound.If there is any softare required then send me the link.Please tell me the procedure....

Hye Sir,

Just try connecting the jacks to the back panel

And also go to your volume settings, double click on the speaker icon on your taskbar,

Check the Recording Option and select the device
