Creating a Server driven LAN

Hello, I want to create a LAN with 5 PC and 1 Laptop.


Now i want 1 PC as server (With windows Server 2003). And others as its client to give the lan high security.

The server will connected through a BSNL broadband Connection and all other PC share this connection.

All the other PC will Operated with Windows Xp SP2...

I have a switch with 8 Ports.



So I have..

1. 5 PC
2. 1 Laptop
3. 1 PC with Windows Server 2003
4. 4 PC and 1 Laptop with Windows XP SP2.
5. 1 Switch with 8 ports.
6. 1 BSNL DSL Modem.
7. RJ- 45 connectors.
8. Lan Cables.
9. All the PC have a Ethernet LAN Card.........


Now what will be the steps. to create the LAN.


Please help me.

Nothing much to do as u have already done lots of things...nice presentetion..

ok now powern on ur 8 port switch and follow following steps. (Do you khow how to Crimp LAN Cable ??)

before connecting your pcs and dsl modem you need to give ip address to your all pcs and lappy, that ip must be same class for all devices (ex. if you are giving 192.168.1.5 to one pc than you must give other pc with same ip range ex 192.168.1.x, this way). do you know how to assign ip address to the pc ??
