LAPTOP TROUBLE

Hello,
My Compaq a900 laptop just randomly shut off and will not turn back on. I tried to plug it in to charge but the light will not even register to verify that it is being backed up. It has been non responsive for over an hour. PLEASE HELP, any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
