Black screen when my laptop is switched on

Hello,
when i press the power button to switch on the laptop nothing happens to the screen the lights, fan and cpu is on but the screen is black.

please help.

have u tried plugging it with an external monitor? if u can get a display on that then u may need to replace ur screen
