URGENT MONITOR PROBLEM

Hello, i have a problem about my monitor it just happened today..
my monitor turn black.no any picture, icons display it just look like black..while the cpu is running..
so what would be the best solution for my computer..can u explain it to me or give a solution step by step pls...

hello i have personally had this problem before. in order to weed out a couple other possiblities, did you ever add a video card into the PC? what kind of PC is it?
