No sou nd from my external speakers

Hello,
My external speakers (Cambridge SoundWorks) isn't playing any sound if I plug it into my Laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro) There is nothing wrong with the cable or the jack of the external speakers, because if I plug it into my portable cd-player it works. Please help. I'm no fundi when it comes to Computers.

hi there,

did you check your laptop with a headphone ?

check it before to be able to know if its the laptop hardware or software
