Laptop won't boot or start

Hello,

My Gateway laptop recently just stopped working. Literallly powered down whilst I was using it and it since won't start. I push the power button and I can hear the fans start - all lights come on as usual - I hear it momentarily engage the HD then nothing.

Gateway logo (which comes on before bios option) doesn't even come on. I have questions if it is the screen or what but I don't know. Tried removing memory, battery, hd and resitting them all to no avail.

Tried holding down power button, pressing f8 as soon as it comes on - neither worked.

Totally out of ideas. I think it may be a bad motherboard (I thought I was computer savy, but this has got me stumped). Any idea what else to try?

Any suggestions?

hi there,

if you a recovery cd try to boot from it

or any other live cd like linux

if this boots up with live cd then make a system repair fro windows

installation cd or recovery disk

Thanks

Hi,

I've had the same problem.
The solution was to put the battery and AC cable out and for about 20minutes
and than try again. Maybe it will help in Your situation as well.

Unfortunately I've no clue what was the reason of such behavior.
