System error32 plus no boot device detected

My Dell Latitude D505, bought second hand, has decided to show System error 32 message - and I have not got a set up disk for Windows XP. Now telling me that it can't find a bootable device at all. I don't want to lose personal data but what do I do now? Would I be better taking it to local computer shop and asking to reinstall XP rather than messing around with it? I also have a PC with XP on it - but again no set up disk - is it possible to copy set-up onto disk or USB stick?

Dear Sir,
Please solve the matter of Boot Device Not Detected by getting to your BIOS settings and turning
on the proper device settings and off those which aren't in use. For the System32 corrupted or
missing file, please fix it through the following steps:
